TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Toledo said it is hosting Junior Achievement’s “5th Year” program this year, an experience designed to empower young adults through career support after they leave high school.
In a press release, UToledo said it is taking over the program from Lourdes University, which is closing at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year. UToledo said the program will bring together 60 students from 18 local high schools to live on campus for a nine-month period. This includes the following school districts, according to Junior Achievement: Central Catholic, Clay, Evergreen, Genoa, Horizon Science Academy, Lake, Maumee, Otsego, Ottawa Hills, Rossford, Springfield, St. Francis deSales, St. John’s Jesuit, Sylvania Northview, Sylvania Southview, Toledo School for the Arts, Waite and Whitmer.
The university said the program, which they operate in partnership with Junior Achievement of Northwestern Ohio, will give young adults a structured, purpose-driven year that’s focused on “career exploration, financial independence and personal development.”…
