Gas prices squeeze local paratransit companies

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The war in Iran continues to impact gas prices in the U.S. as the national average cracks $4 a gallon, and local transportation services say they’re feeling the squeeze.

Leaders of two local transportation companies say it’s had a big impact these last two months. Black and White Transportation gives roughly 600,000 rides a year, so when the price of gas is added up for each trip, it gets costly. With many clients needing medical transportation, they’re relying on these companies no matter the price.
