Toledo business owner retires after 43 years, looks forward to life of travel and time with family

TOLEDO, Ohio — After more than four decades serving Toledo’s construction industry, a longtime business owner is hanging up his hard hat—with plans that sound a little more like vacation than retirement.

Louis Crippen, founder of C-N Construction Supplies, is retiring after 43 years in business. He started the company in 1983—on April Fools’ Day—and built it into a go-to supplier for contractors across northwest Ohio.

“It’s been a long one,” Crippen said of his journey. “We’ve had a nice long run.”
