Toledo police officer charged with operating vehicle under influence in Monroe County

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo police officer is facing a misdemeanor charge after he allegedly drove under the influence in Monroe County while off duty, according to a press release from the Toledo Police Department.

TPD said Officer Michael Ellerbrock is facing an off-duty “traffic-related misdemeanor offense” stemming from a March 23 incident. The charge specifically reads that Ellerbrook is accused of driving under the influence with an occupant less than 16 years of age in the vehicle. The charge was filed in the 1st District Court of Monroe County.

A TPD spokesperson said Ellerbrock, who is a 12-year veteran of the department, was placed on restricted duty with pay pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings. An internal investigation is also underway, TPD said…
