Board revokes certification for 5 Oregon public safety officers

Oregon’s Department of Public Safety Standards and Training board made an emergency motion April 23 to suspend the certifications of a wanted former officer and revoked the public safety certifications of five public safety officers and took no action against six others following allegations of moral fitness violations, both on and off the job.

The 26-member Board on Public Safety Standards and Training reviewed and adopted the recommendations of the department’s professional policy committees during its quarterly meeting. Those six policy committees, including the Fire Policy Committee, Police Policy Committee, and Corrections Policy Committee, discuss and make determinations about cases of alleged moral fitness violations based on other agencies’ investigations.
