Southeast Powell Boulevard has seen some of the most car accidents in Portland, according to the Portland Bureau of Transportation. Two years ago, a pilot program called “Rest in Red” was born to use wave technology and catch speeding drivers at the corridor.
“What we’re trying to do is see if this technology can help us get people who are behind the wheel at night to follow the speed limit and be more attentive, looking out for other drivers and people biking or walking,” Dylan Rivera with PBOT said.
