Cox HS student found not guilty in mob assault case

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Cox High School student charged in connection to a mob assault case was found not guilty Monday in Virginia Beach Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Ellis Ashman, 18, who had faced mob assault charges, was found not guilty, and a protective order against Ashman by the victim is also no longer in effect.

Ashman, along with two other teens, Cash Osler and Hunter Faison, were arrested at Cox High School and had faced mob assault charges stemming from an alleged fight at a Oct. 11, 2025 house party.

Charges against Osler were previously nolle prossed, meaning they were dismissed, but they could become active again if new evidence comes to light. Commonwealth’s attorneys said there was enough evidence to prove Osler was at the party, but not enough to prove he was part of the fight…
