PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two teen boys have been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal July 23 shooting of 33-year-old De’Shaviya Donnisha Jerry on High Street in Portsmouth, police said.

The two teen boys have each been charged with second-degree murder, missile at an occupied dwelling, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, a minor in possession of a firearm, malicious shooting and shooting across a road.
Portsmouth Police touted the use of public safety technology in the arrests, saying officers used Flock gunshot detection and license plate readers to narrow the timeline and reviewed surveillance footage from surrounding businesses to identify and find the suspects.
Around 4:16 p.m. July 23, police responded to a call for a dead person in the 2600 block of High Street. When officers arrived, they found a dead woman who had been shot once.
