YWCA of South Hampton Roads in need of urgent support amid funding pause

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A local nonprofit is out hundreds of thousands of dollars after the federal government ordered a pause on its social services.

It’s funding that domestic violence shelters all across the Commonwealth lean on, and the effects are already being felt here at home.

The YWCA of South Hampton Roads CEO said there is upwards of $150,000 in funding on pause, which means community support is truly needed now more than ever…
