VDH reports 6 human West Nile virus cases in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) — There are currently six human cases of West Nile virus in Virginia, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

The positive mosquito reports of West Nile virus indicate the virus is active in the environment, and it’s something generally seen in late summer and early fall in Virginia.

The city of Virginia Beach said earlier this week there has been an increase in the number of mosquitos testing positive for the West Nile virus in the past three weeks. The city said it collected mosquitos in nine different neighborhoods.
