NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Hours after it had put precautionary, heightened security measures into place, Naval Station Norfolk said it has returned to normal operations early Tuesday morning.
It said Monday evening it had implemented heightened security measures as a precaution to “ensure the safety and security of our personnel, families and the installation.” However, by just after 3 a.m. Tuesday, Naval Station Norfolk said normal base access and gate operations have resumed, and personnel and visitors “should follow regularly established gate hours and access procedures.”
