Jerry Wayne Daisey, a 56-year-old Virginia Beach resident, has been given a 36-year prison sentence for attacking his ex-girlfriend. Daisey was charged with Statutory Burglary, Abduction, Strangulation, and Assault and Battery of a Family Member. Circuit Court Judge Steven C. Frucci issued the sentence, which is significantly longer than the maximum guideline of six years and seven months. Daisey admitted guilt to the charges on July 31, 2023.
The incident occurred on July 30, 2022. Daisey went to the victim’s home and broke into her bedroom after she denied him entry. He threatened and assaulted her, keeping her confined for several hours. The victim managed to alert her neighbors, leading to Daisey’s departure.
A nearby restaurant’s surveillance camera recorded Daisey leaving the victim’s house the next morning. Virginia Beach police officers arrived shortly after and found the victim with injuries on her face and arms. The victim had been in a relationship with Daisey and lived with him until January 2022.
