Firefighter injured in roof collapse during Virginia Beach house fire

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — One firefighter was taken to the hospital after a roof collapsed during a house fire on Saturday night.

The blaze in the 4100 block of Old Lyne Road in Virginia Beach was reported at 9:10 p.m., according to the Virginia Beach Police Department. The two-story home had heavy smoke and flames coming from it when firefighters arrived at 9:13 p.m.

The call was upgraded to a second alarm and a Mayday was called when the roof fell on firefighters on the second floor. The injured firefighter had non-life-threatening injuries…
