“I understand it’s challenging” says VB police chief on second night of all age curfew

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Traffic cones and police presence were visible along Atlantic Avenue for night #2 of the 9:30 curfew for all ages at the oceanfront.

Virginia Beach city council voted to pass the curfew 10-1 earlier this week. The goal is to ensure public safety after 2 recent mass shootings at the oceanfront.

“What really concerned us is that we had two mass shootings and they weren’t even our worst weekends. So, what was going to happen this weekend? What could potentially happen next weekend?” said Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate, “that’s why I made the compelling pitch for us to try to get some tools so that we can do on our end as much as we can to try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”…
