NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Quick action and teamwork by C-shift on the water Saturday evening helped rescue a paddleboarder who was in distress near the Ocean View Fishing Pier in Norfolk.
Crews from Norfolk Fire-Rescue Station 13 staffed Boat 13 and Zodiac 13 to go to the scene at around 6:22 p.m. alongside Medic 16 and Battalion.
Park Rangers were already on scene and maintained visual contact with the individual in distress while rescue crews responded. Boat 13 located the paddleboarder approximately a half mile offshore.
The individual was safely brought aboard, transferred to Zodiac 13, and returned to shore for evaluation, officials say…
