Man Dies Days After Oxon Hill Shooting; 25 Year-Old Suspect Held Without Bond

OXON HILL, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a now-fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month. PGPD detectives charged 25-year-old Jeremiah Hammond of Washington, DC, with the shooting of 45-year-old Oscar Guevara.

On August 7, 2026, at approximately 6:45 pm, officers responded to the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road for a shooting. They located Guevara suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he died on August 16, 2026.

Immediately after the shooting, detectives with the Gun Crimes Unit responded to the scene. Through various investigative techniques and with the help of Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority Police, Hammond was identified and charged with attempted murder and related charges by Gun Crimes Unit detectives on August 8, 2026.
