5 men arrested after fleeing police, crashing into government vehicle in DC: MPD

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Authorities arrested five men early Sunday morning after they fled from a traffic stop and struck two other vehicles, including a government vehicle, police said.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the investigation began at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday when officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 4900 block of Benning Road SE. However, after the initial stop, police said the vehicle fled and struck a government vehicle.

Officers began to pursue the car, but it crashed a short time later into a parked vehicle at Blaine Street and Benning Road NE.

Police arrested five men at the scene for gun- and drug-related offenses, according to MPD. EMS crews also responded and took four of the five men to nearby hospitals for treatment…
