Last week Shane Beamer joined Mike Norvell and Greg Schiano on the list of head coaches whose seats are on fire. Today there is a new name to add to the group. After a 54-3 home loss to UCLA, Mike Locksley of Maryland is on coaching life support in College Park.
This is a game that Locksley needed to win. Instead, he lost by 51 points at home. The reaction of the fanbase after Maryland’s home loss to Virginia Tech last weekend was an appetizer to what happened during today’s game. Down 20-3 at halftme, fans were either yelling for Locksley’s firing or leaving the stadium.
To make the situation worse, Maryland fans had to watch UCLA, which just underwent a coaching change in December, roll into town and dismantle their team. Bob Chesney didn’t look like he was at this job for only ten months, while Locskley definitely didn’t look like a veteran of the Big Ten…
