Two Northern Virginia men sentenced in vast drug-trafficking case

Two Northern Virginia men were sentenced Tuesday to federal prison for their role in a vast drug-trafficking conspiracy, according to federal prosecutors.

Dontavious Rashid Whitaker, 28, of Alexandria, and D’Moni Anthony Moten, 27, of Woodbridge, were sentenced to 20 years and over 16 years in prison, respectively, for a conspiracy to traffic counterfeit pressed pills containing various drugs.

According to court documents and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, from at least December 2021 to November 2025, Whitaker and Moten participated in a scheme to distribute pills containing opioids including heroin, fentanyl and carfentanil, a synthetic opioid 100 times more powerful than fentanyl…
