WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – When school starts next week, some students in Valley Center will have a new place to learn.
The new elementary school, named Valley Park Elementary School, was built through a $59 million bond project approved by voters in 2024 after district leaders said the growing district needed more space.
“This is such a great growth opportunity; Valley Center is getting bigger and bigger every year, so we had the opportunity to open this building to kind of shift some grades around and give more space to people for better learning opportunities,” said Lauren White, the principal of Valley Park.
Students in kindergarten through fourth grade can attend the new elementary school. The building will also house the district’s Mixed Abilities program and the Parents as Teachers program.

“Not a lot of people get this chance to have such a cool thing happen,” White said. “So I’m very excited, very fortunate to be out here in Valley Center. It’s such a great community, and everybody is excited for this building.”…
