Weather Alert – Severe storms return on Thursday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – It is a mostly cloudy and (kind of) muggy morning with wake-up temperatures mainly in the 50s. Expect clearing skies and highs in the 70s this afternoon across central and eastern Kansas, while areas farther west see a few storms after 4 p.m. The good news is that some spots will receive some much-needed rainfall, and the better news is that most storms will not be severe.

The main event will take place across central and eastern Kansas on Thursday. A cold front will help ignite scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening hours, and some of those storms will be strong, if not severe. The best chances will be along and east of I-135, mainly between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Our weather pattern will remain unsettled, and another storm system is expected move across Kansas this weekend. Showers and storms are possible, if not likely across western Kansas on Saturday afternoon, and around the rest of the state on Saturday night and Sunday.
