Veterans, spouses get help filing claims at Wichita benefits event

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Kansas Office of Veterans Services held a benefits and claims event in Wichita on Friday, offering veterans and surviving spouses an in-person way to apply for benefits tied to their military service.

Organizers said attendees could file paperwork for claims on the spot. Primary care professionals also were available to conduct several exams needed to support those claims.

The event also connected veterans with dozens of additional service providers. “We also have 36 resources folks that do assist veterans, have offers, discounts and benefits that are nonprofit organizations,” an organizer said. “While you’re waiting for a few minutes to see your claims representative or get your exam, you can go through and talk to all those folks that have something for you too.”…
