MOFFETT, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — An 87-year-old Wichita, Kansas man died Thursday after crashing on a merge ramp off U.S. Highway 64 near Moffett on Wednesday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) said.

Charles Lester was traveling alone on the US-64D ramp merging onto eastbound US-64 around 4 a.m. when he lost control on a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree, according to OHP. Troopers said speed and unfamiliarity with the area were contributing factors.
