Southeastern NC fire departments receive nearly $390,000 in state grants

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. (WECT) — Eighteen volunteer fire departments in Bladen, Columbus and Pender counties will receive nearly $390,000 in state grants to purchase equipment and make improvements.

The NC Office of State Fire Marshal approved the funding through the Volunteer Fire Department Fund program for Fiscal Year 2026. According to a news release, the grants are part of more than $12 million awarded to 463 departments statewide.
