Southport 4th of July celebrations to impact traffic

SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WECT) – The 2026 4th of July Celebration in Southport is almost here, and many traffic changes may impact your commute.

According to the Southport Police Department, the following traffic changes will be in place from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4:

  • N. Howe Street will convert to two lanes out of town
  • The right lane out of town will be for 133, Boiling Spring Lakes and Leland
  • The center turn lane out of town will be for RiverMist, Oak Island, Saint James and Bolivia
  • Moore Street will carry traffic out of town, left onto Leonard Street, then right onto Rob Gandy to River Road
  • One lane of traffic will flow into the City
  • Jabbertown Road and Dosher Cutt-Off Road will be closed to local traffic only
  • Turtlewood Drive will be closed to local traffic only at both entrances

Inbound traffic from 211, 87 and 133 will be restricted at this time.
