Severe storms possible Wednesday in Mass. before sunny, mild days return

After a cold front brings a risk of severe storms Wednesday afternoon and evening, mild, sunny weather is expected in Massachusetts the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms across the state until 5 p.m. Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms will remain possible on the South Coast, Cape and Islands until 8 p.m., with severe storms also a risk during that time.

A heat advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday for Middlesex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex counties, as well as for eastern Hampden and Hampshire counties, southern Worcester County and northern Bristol and Plymouth counties.

Temperatures are predicted to drop into the low to mid 50s Wednesday night before rising into the mid 60s on Thursday. Mostly cloudy skies are expected throughout the day, ahead of lows in the low to mid 40s Thursday night…
