COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A triple digit heat index has brought heat-related illness danger to the entire Central Ohio region, in response the City of Columbus has opened cooling centers and provided fair free rides on COTA buses; despite such a hefty response the City of Columbus Water & Power has shut off more than 300 customers water service since the heatwave started.
“If you look at any of these advisories, the first thing on there is to stay hydrated,” said Josh Liles, whose water was shut off Tuesday, “When our entire water supply is shut off how am I supposed to keep my animals hydrated, keep my son hydrated?”
Liles, his wife and their 3-year-old son were left without water on a day that had a heat index of 105 degrees. The shutoff was due to failing to schedule an appointment to replace his water meter as a part of the Enhanced Meter Project…
