Colonie neighbors struggle to return home after flash flooding

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — More than 15 people were evacuated by boat from a Colonie neighborhood near Exchange Street on Wednesday morning. Now some residents are being told their homes are uninhabitable.

NEWS10’s Bianca Caputo spoke for a second time with Amy Kirsch, who is now working to put she and her son’s life back together. She had to leave everything behind and go to a shelter with her son Theodore after firefighters pounded on her door.

“My mind was racing a lot last night, so I didn’t get much sleep,” said Kirsch. “All my stuff is already water damaged and they’re not letting us in, I don’t think they will for a while.”
