SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Police arrested a Schenectady man on Sunday following an assault investigation. James Lewis, 20, faces felony charges.

Schenectady Police responded to State Street near Hulett Street around 4:10 p.m. on August 2 after receiving reports that someone had been stabbed in the vicinity. Arriving officers located a 36-year-old man at the scene who was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries to the abdomen and back.
Lewis was identified as a suspect amid the ensuing investigation, resulting in him being taken into custody. Police determined the attack allegedly happened during an attempted robbery against the victim.

Lewis was charged with first-degree assault and first degree robbery. He was then held by law enforcement as the investigation remains ongoing.
