(NEWS10) — The New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) conducted underage compliance checks in the month of July in Albany and Schenectady Counties. To conduct a compliance check, SLA investigators work with an underage agent and visited multiple businesses over several days. Four establishments appeared to sell alcohol to the undercover agent, according to the SLA.

During the operation, the following businesses sold alcohol to a minor:
- Pine Hills Market 504 Hudson Ave., Albany
- Ontario Food Mart Inc 293 Ontario St., Albany
- 602 Deli Inc 602 Union St. C1, Schenectady
- Alashmali Mart Inc 396 Central Ave., Albany
The following businesses refused to sell alcohol to a minor:
- Quail Street Market Deli & Fried Chicken 167 Quail St., Albany
- Key 2 Convenience206 Albany St., Albany
- Sabatino Liquor Store 210 Quail St., Albany
- K & K Quail Inc 212 Quail St., Albany
- Delmas Diner Inc 198 Central Ave., Albany
- A and A Altamont Inc. 4449 Western Ave., Albany
- Sabatino Liquor Store 210 Quail St., Albany
Employees or licensees who sell to minors can be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. Licensees charged by the SLA with underage sales face civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation, with fines ranging from $2,500 to $4,000 for a first-time offense. Repeat offenders also face possible suspension or revocation of their licenses.
