NEW SCOTLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Bees, a packed house and a location change all told the story of Tuesday night’s New Scotland Planning Board meeting. About 15 minutes before the 6 p.m. meeting, nearly 70 residents were already gathered outside of town hall, ready to voice their concerns over a battery energy storage system (BESS) proposed by Troy based company New Leaf Energy.
But just after the scheduled meeting time, attendees were redirected to the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department as a new venue because town employees had to spray a bee nest that was inside the hall.
Nonetheless, cars filled the parking lot by the town’s Punkintown Fair, and people filled every chair in the firehouse…
