BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Flock camera systems are drawing national attention as law enforcement agencies defend their use and critics raise questions about privacy and oversight.
Baton Rouge police have used the Flock camera system for five years. Chief of Police TJ Morse said the technology has proven to be a key investigative tool.
“Just this year we had the incident on Plank and Airline where a woman went in the store, left her child in the backseat of the car, her car was stolen out of the parking lot with the child still in it, and we were able to look on our Flock camera systems and see that vehicle pass by one of the cameras,” Morse said. “We were then able to deploy officers into the area and recover the vehicle and the child safely.”
