Report: Columbus woman working as jail guard in Alabama arrested

A Columbus woman who worked as a jail guard in a Barbour County facility was arrested for using an inmate to smuggle contraband inside the state prison. Carol Robinson of AL.com reported Emanie Simone Desirae Brascom is from Columbus and accused of giving flakka to one inmate in exchange for payment during one incident. Flakka is a manufactured stimulant drug.

The Alabama Department of Corrections announced in a statement August 12, 2026, Brascom, a security guard at Ventress Correctional Facility, was arrested on contraband charges.

The arrest is the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation that began in June. It was determined that Brascom was conspiring with an ADOC inmate at Ventress to introduce contraband into ADOC facilities.
