A new source of federal aid could make career training more affordable for North Atlanta workers—once Georgia finishes deciding where the money can be used.
Workforce Pell took effect July 1, expanding the familiar federal grant beyond traditional college programs. For the first time, qualifying students may receive Pell funding for job training completed in as little as eight weeks.
The change could help adults who want to enter health care, information technology, manufacturing or another high-demand field without enrolling in a two-year program.
