UPDATE: Dozens of horses have been killed in the tragic fire that broke out at a barn used by Saratoga Race Track trainers. At least 30 perished in the flames, according to the Times Union.

Fire Breaks Out at Saratoga Harness Track

It was a busy morning for first responders in Saratoga, New York, after a fire broke out at the Saratoga Harness Track.

According to reports, the blaze started in a barn located next to another barn where horses are housed. Fire crews rushed to the scene and worked for several hours to get the fire under control.

Road Closed as Crews Battled the Blaze

Nelson Avenue was shut down for much of the morning to give firefighters enough room to work safely and keep the area clear as crews responded to the emergency.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from around the area as firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures.

Questions Remain About Horses and Injuries
