Schenectady man arrested after alleged assault in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Schenectady man has been arrrested after an alleged stabbing in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Police Department said Larry Lee, 60, was taken into custody on August 7.

On July 26, police were called to Hempton Street in Amsterdam for a reported assault. Police found that Lee allegedly punched the victim in the face and stabbed the victim in the arm with a kitchen knife as they tried to leave the home.

Lee then allegedly blocked the door and stole property from the victim. Police said the victim was able get a cell phone from inside the home to call police as Lee fled the area.

During a search warrant of the home, police reportedly found the kitchen knife used in the stabbing, five and a half pounds of cannabis, two pounds of concentrated cannabis, items used for the packaging and sale of cannabis and $1,000. Lee was taken into custody in Schenectady on August 7 on an arrest warrant.

Charges

  • Second-degree assault (felony)
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (felony)
  • Third-degree robbery (felony)
  • Two counts of second-degree criminal possession of cannabis (felony)
  • Second-degree unlawful imprisonment

Lee was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail. Police said the investigtion is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
