ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The proposed Kenwood Data Center could be built at the former Kenwood Convent Site on Southern Boulevard. While many are against it, data center experts say, this could be beneficial.
Guild Ventures and the EKG Group are looking to build a data center that will also have retail shops, grocery stores and affordable housing. The proposal is still in its early stages as developers are waiting for the cities approval. Zilvinas Silenas, President and CEO of Empire Center says these facilities could have a positive impact on the community.
“Regardless that you provide a very important service, especially in this kind of economy that is more and more dependent on AI, that is more and more dependent on information technology,” said Silenas. “So it’s definitely either way you slice it, the center is a good investment.”
