ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Capital Region was out in full force at the Empire State Plaza on Wednesday for the New York State Food Festival, where the only thing not on the menu is The Egg. Bruce King has been to the festival before, but he still had a hard time deciding what to get.
“A couple of years ago we were at this festival,” said King. “Everything you could possibly think about right here that’s food.”

The options were nearly endless, from lunch choices like Big John’s Hot Dogs to Emack & Bolio’s ice cream. If you’ve ever been to the festival, you’ve seen some vendors who are there each year, like Maria Lloyd at La Empanada Llama. Her business has been coming to the festival for 20 years.
“In the beginning, it was different and was supposed to be an international food festival,” said Lloyd. “We were all different countries, then [it] became like a food festival. So it’s very nice.”

This festival will be Lloyd’s last. She plans to retire at the end of September, and she told NEWS10 she came this year to say goodbye. Before then, her business will have their empanadas available until the festival closes Wednesday night…
