ALTAMONT, N.Y. (NEWS10) — There are over 30 rides and hundreds of different vendors at the Altamont Fair. Organizers and attendees say they appreciate how the fair brings the community together.
Pat Canaday, a spokesperson and organizer of the event has been with the fair since 1983. She says the weeklong event holds a special place in her heart.

“I think it’s an important community event in that you will see people who may not have seen each other in a year and will be comparing the heights of their children or, you know, ‘Oh, mine went to college,’ or, ‘Oh my gosh, they’re finally in middle school.’ It’s this gathering of familiar faces and then the sharing with new people,” Canaday said.
