ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — Albany Mayor Dorcey Applyrs is offering her most detailed explanation yet of what is driving the city’s growing budget shortfall, saying lower-than-expected revenue — not overspending — accounts for the bulk of a multi-million-dollar deficit.
The mayor disclosed the city’s financial standing last month, announcing that the city ended the 2025 fiscal year in a $15 million deficit, a figure that is expected to climb to $22 million by the end of the 2026 fiscal year.
