AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Workforce Commission reported that the civilian labor force of the state reached a total of 14,394,300 nonfarm jobs after adding 300 positions in April.
According to the TWC, data shows the state added 82,400 jobs over the year, outpacing the national nonfarm growth rate by 0.4%, with a rate of 0.6%. TWC data states that the civilian labor force registered at 15,894,800 after decreasing by 21,800 over the month of April.
TWC noted the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained stable in Texas at 4.3%. As of April 2026, the Amarillo metropolitan statistical area has an unemployment rate of 3.2%, decreasing by .2%.
