Two people are in the hospital and a man named Andrew Guerra remains locked up in Fort Worth where he’s up on a string of charges including Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and Intoxicated Assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injuries.
This all started Saturday night when Fort Worth police reports say officers saw a pick-up truck driving erratically. Suspecting a drunk driver, they tried to pull the driver over near the intersection where University Drive, Bailey Avenue, and West 7th Street all meet. But the driver hit the gas and sped down west 7th where he hit two pedestrians and smashed into a car.
The driver, now identified as Guerra, was arrested at the scene and was hauled to jail.
Police say the two pedestrians, a man and a woman, and the people inside the other car were all taken to the hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
This comes as the city of Fort Worth is going to court to fight a Texas Attorney General’s Office order that the city release the police department’s chase policy.
