AUSTIN (KXAN) — Heavy rains Sunday and overnight into Monday brought flooding to Central Texas. Streams rose and floodwaters blocked off roads across the region.

Flash Flood Warnings in effect for parts of Austin-metro

KXAN viewer Chuck Hawkins sent in this photo from near the Big Sandy Bridge in Travis County:

That bridge was washed away during the 2025 Independence Day floods. The Texas Department of Transportation rebuilt the bridge and it reopened in September 2025.

A viewer in Austin snapped a photo of a low water crossing at 6650 Spicewood Springs Road. That crossing was closed before 2:00 a.m. Monday and currently is still closed. Six other crossings on Spicewood Springs are also closed.

A low water crossing on the nearby Old Spicewood Springs Road also closed Monday, at 2:39 a.m. KXAN’s field crew stopped by that crossing:

Austin Watershed Protection deployed barricades at the road shortly after those photos were taken:

In Pflugerville, the city’s government posted a photo of a park’s flooded pedestrian bridge. It warned that the water could take hours to drain from the area.

Over in Milam County, the local sheriff’s office showed social media how heavy rains can wipe out unpaved roads. Specifically, County Road 132; at least 14 roads in the county were closed as of 8:30 a.m.:
