IOWA CITY — An Iowa City woman is accused of assaulting a Lyft driver and taking her phone early Friday morning at a convenience store, according to an Iowa City Police Department criminal complaint.
About 3:05 a.m., a Lyft driver was picking up 22-year-old Kiara L. Perkins and another person at the Maverik convenience store at 1310 S. Gilbert St. The driver declined to give Perkins a ride because the other person had an open container of alcohol, according to the criminal complaint.
Police said this caused an argument and Perkins spat on the driver. As Perkins exited the vehicle and appeared to walk away, the driver began recording the incident on her phone. Perkins then walked back toward the driver, threw a drink at her, punched her multiple times, took her phone and left the area, according to the complaint…
