NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — There are more parking spaces along downtown Norfolk’s Granby Street now than there has been in recent years, but fewer places to dine al fresco.
Ahead of Sail 250, Harborfest and Juneteenth, the city of Norfolk is looking to have the heart of its cultural arts district looking its best. As part of that effort, a majority of COVID-era outdoor street dining setups have been removed, with the remaining structures awaiting upgrades, according to Deputy City Manager Ron Williams.
“We’ve been working with businesses in earnest over the past year to bring the structures into compliance,” Williams said, “to make sure that they’re safe, that they follow our guidelines and that they have proper insurance for being an encroachment in our right of way to protect both the structure and anyone that’s dining in the street right now.”…
