FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS Sunday and Monday for dangerous heat risk, potential of storms

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The risk of heat related illnesses continues Sunday and early next week.

First Alert Headlines:

  • Heat Advisory in effect until 8 PM for portion of Midlands.
  • First Alert Weather Days Sunday and Monday for dangerous heat risk.
  • Rain, storm chances begin to increase Sunday and next week.

First Alert Summary:

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for a portion of the Midlands until 8 PM for the brutal heat. Continue to practice heat safety if you will be outdoors over the coming hours. Overnight, temperatures will slowly drop to the middle 70s under a mostly clear sky.

Another First Alert Weather Day will be in place Sunday as the dangerous heat risk sticks around. High temperatures are forecast to top out well in the 90s with heat index values as high as 102 to 105 in the afternoon.

Good news about Sunday’s forecast is that some may get relief from the intense heat with a better potential of pop-up showers! Diurnal driven showers and thunderstorms will be at times from lunchtime through sunset.

We’ll kick off the new work week with another First Alert Weather Day on Monday for the heat, humidity combination. There will also be a chance of afternoon scattered showers or storms to bring relief.
