Cool weekend, warm-up next week, possible severe weather

COLUMBUS, Ga (WRBL) — Happy Saturday! Once this morning’s rain cleared, we have been left with a beautiful beginning to the weekend.

Estimated rainfall totals over the last two days range from 0.5 inches in our northern counties to over 1.5 inches in our southern counties.

Sunday: The last bit of clouds will move out tonight, leaving clear skies for Sunday. Winds will be slightly breezy. Plus, temperatures will stay cool, with highs in the low-70s. Lows will sit in the 40s.

Next Week: Those cool readings won’t last long! Highs will jump back into the 80s by Tuesday. Our next cold front will enter the southeast midweek, moving through our region Wednesday-Thursday.

While we are still several days out, we will be watching this next system for possible severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted an area across Mississippi and western Alabama to watch on Wednesday.

Once this front clears, we will see conditions clear up for the last half of next week. Temperatures will also briefly cool back down into the 70s…
