EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) – The Route 66 Beach Festival looks to bring the sand and sound of the beach to Oklahoma this August. With the “California Sound” contributing heavily to the festival’s playlist, the band Jan & Dean’s Beach Party helped launch the music genre decades ago.

Recently featured in Rolling Stone magazine, band member Dean of Jan & Dean worked closely with popular band The Beach Boys in creating their signature “beachy” sound in the early 1960’s.
Torrence leads Jan & Dean’s Beach Party, a tribute band that delivers the duo’s greatest hits including “Surf City,” classic Beach Boys covers, and an array of rock and roll classics.
The band is set to play at the Route 66 Beach Festival at 2 p.m. on August 29th. The tribute band joins part of a lineup of local bands and DJ performances for the family-friendly festival, which also includes rowing, kayak and dragon boat beach sprint racing, classic Route 66 cars, a swim beach, food trucks and beach games…
