Amarillo Restaurants Are Barely Staying Staffed

I have to say, we are in a really strange time in Amarillo, and really just the country as a whole. Prices on everything are rising, people are struggling to make ends meet, and businesses are closing left and right. It’s not a good time in America right now.

However, it seems as if there are a lot of places that are hiring and looking for help right now, and they’re struggling to fill those positions. Are they career-type positions? Not necessarily, but they can always turn into that. With the number of people struggling to find ways to bridge that financial gap, I’m shocked to see so many open positions around the city.

Restaurants In Desperate Need

The number of fast food restaurants I’ve gone to lately here in Amarillo, and even in Oklahoma City this past weekend when I was there, that aren’t opening the doors to their lobby is crazy. Why would they only have the drive-thru open but not the building itself?

They can’t find workers. There are not enough people available to be scheduled for shifts to keep the doors open. Sure, you can grab something in the drive-thru, but sometimes I’m in a position where I want to just sit down, eat my meal, take in some air conditioning, and relax. It’s something we look for during long baseball tournament weekends.

Amarillo Restaurant Apparently Had One Worker

I was scrolling through Facebook last night and saw a post about the Wendy’s on 45th and Coulter. The OP mentioned they hit the drive-thru, placed their order, paid for it at the window, then watched the worker disappear…
