A massive pet rescue led 70 pets on an adventure through the sky, culminating in their landing one step closer to their forever families.In May, Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) worked alongside local rescue teams to help over 50 Shih Tzus from a living situation that “had spiraled far beyond what one person could manage,” the animal rescue organization wrote on Instagram on May 21.
“What started as a family breeding operation years ago grew into something much larger — and after the loss of a close family member last year, the situation has become overwhelming,” APA! added.
The Austin-based organization helped remove as many pups as possible from the overcrowded conditions, and agreed to take over the care of 21 of the dogs. On June 4, the 21 dogs joined 49 other adoptable animals on a rescue flight, operated by APA!’s flight partner, Dog is My CoPilot, to Colorado, where fosters, adopters, and shelter workers were waiting on the ground to ensure all the pets find forever homes…
